Binoy(Ben) Kuriakose is a professional counselor licensed by the state of Texas. He earned his Master’s degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary with honors. He also has a Master’s degree in English Literature and another Master’s degree in Divinity. Ben is fluent in English as well as Malayalam and Tamil.
Ben is experienced working with individuals suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, addiction, and phase of life related issues. He has experience working with adolescents with behavioral issues, ADD/ADHD, and adjustment disorders. He is passionate about the institution of marriage, and enjoys working with married couples to establish, restore, and enhance their marital relationship.
Ben also performs EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. It shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. Ben uses EMDR specifically to treat clients struggling with panic attacks, complicated grief, dissociative disorders, disturbing memories, phobias, pain disorders, performance anxiety, high levels of stress, addictions, sexual and/or physical abuse, body dysmorphic disorders, and personality disorders.
Ben has served as a faculty, Dean of Students, and Campus counselor. He has been in private practice in the State of Texas since 2012. He volunteers with Victim Relief Ministries offering counseling and chaplaincy care to victims of various kinds. He is also an ordained minister. He and His wife Lissy have been married for the last 18 years. He enjoys playing volleyball, badminton and cooking out with family and friends.
