Hello! I hold true that each person that begins therapy must have immense courage to take the first steps towards personal growth. I believe my purpose is to help meet the needs of clients and help them reach their goals through a dedication and belief that all clients will be able to make positive changes. My goal is to work to build a therapeutic relationship with clients to help discover their strengths and encourage them to polish and hone that strength to overcome any obstacle. I have a passion for working with children and adolescents. I have worked as an elementary school teacher for seven years before becoming a professional school counselor in 2015 in which I have worked with students of various ages from Kindergarten to 12th grade. During that time and currently, I have the great privilege and responsibility of working with many children, parents, teachers and administrators to help young people succeed academically, develop and maintain positive relationships with others, and learn skills that help them problem solve and self-regulate when they come up against obstacles. In 2019, I received my licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas.
I have experience working with clients who struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, attention deficit disorder as well as other academic struggles, self-confidence, grief/loss, divorce, and vocational issues. The counseling techniques I use most often are Play Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Individual Psychology, also known as Adlerian Theory. Play Therapy involves techniques used mostly with younger children and uses play to communicate and work through the therapeutic process. Solution Focused Brief Therapy uses a very goal-oriented approach, using very specific questions to develop an effective solution and focuses more on the here and now. Adlerian Theory takes a holistic view of a person, and believes that every person is uniquely different and can only be understood through the exploration of his or her unique perspective.
I was raised in Texas and recently relocated to Tennessee with my family. When I am not working, I enjoy music, traveling, meeting new people, and spending time with my family.
