Personal

My experience helping others began in the church setting where I served in several ministries such as teen ministry, Divorce Care 4 Kids, prison ministry and family outreach to the disadvantaged indigenous peoples of Alaska. In the field of education I was privileged to provide learning for preschool, school age children, middle school, high school students and students with disabilities. In the counseling setting, my experience includes work in nonprofit community agencies and hospital settings where I provided counseling to adolescents and adults that were dually diagnosed with mental health issues and dependence/addiction to drugs or alcohol as well as families and parents for parenting issues. Overall, I have been blessed to have provided counseling to adolescents and adults to help them find hope, healing, and solutions for a variety of issues that include, but are not limited to addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, grief, teen issues, parenting issues, singles issues, spiritual issues, ADHD and more.

Professional Disclosure Statement

As a counselor, I am dedicated in supporting my clients on their personal recovery journey by helping them make meaning of sorrow and hardship, uncovering their gifts and talents, and develop goals to move forward toward a brighter future and hope. I believe that as long as there is breath there is hope! My main approach to counseling is based upon core beliefs that stem from my faith in God as I believe that the Biblical Scriptures are the source of all truth. With keeping in mind that not all clients have core beliefs that are aligned with my own, I am equipped to provide counseling utilizing empirically proven modes of therapy such as CBT, DBT, person-centered, Motivational Interviewing, Solution- Focused, just to name a few. In regard to the treatment process, I utilize an eclectic style that is developed and progressively changes in keeping with the needs of each client in mind

In the State of Texas, I am dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My education consists of a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling with a minor in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. In obtaining my degree my course work included depression, anxiety, anger issues, grief, trauma, addiction/alcohol problems, adolescent and adult issues.
